Nice smooth shirts
I wear black shirts very very often. Sometimes I wonder if people who know me wonder if I own other colors! ha ha!! I do try to mix it up with a cardigan or different colored shirt, but I would say that 90% of the time, something I have on is black. Maybe I am lazy and it is easy to match with black...maybe I am channeling my inner Johnny Cash..I don't know! ha! Anyway, I do notice that after time, my favorite black basics somehow end up not being my favorites. Either the color fades, or they just look tired, or they shrink (usually in length! why is that!? I didn't get taller!) But I find I need replacements and the old ones get retired for couch-use only. Since I have so many, I know the things I want in different black shirts. I need them to be long enough. Some I like really long for certain things (like to where my legs bend in the front) some a little shorter, but long enough that when I raise my arms, they don't come untucked or show skin. I have different necklines (turtlenecks, mocks, scoops, crew, etc.) I like different ones for different outfits or seasons. Or if I have a favorite piece of jewelry that I want to show off (either on skin or on a shirt.) I don't like it when a pendant hits right at the collar and can get flipped inside my shirt constantly. I like these ones for many things. They are more slippery since they are a blend of spandex, cotton and "modal." I am not exactly sure what modal is, but googling it shows it to be a "semi-synthetic" fiber (whatever THAT means.) I think it is a rayon but can be made from plant cellulose so I guess it has some natural components sometimes. I think. Anyway, it does result in a softer drape and more clingy type fit. It also makes it a little thinner and a little warmer than many cotton knits. I do like that this fabric washes so well and dries (I hang most black shirts to dry mostly to preserve color.) It does though have the a negative effect of skimming your body so that little bumps and bulges (which I wish I didn't have) do show a little. I usually size up in these as I like to pretend I don't have those little bulges (although I am not sure I am fooling anyone! ha ha!!) The skimming quality does though make jackets and other items fit really well over these. Sometimes cotton knits are too thick and bulky and can make pulling sweater on sort of a tug-of-war on your arms. These don't do that. I like that they are cheap enough so that I can have some in my collection of black tops. They don't work for every outfit, but like I said, I like different ones for different things. They fit as described, but if you like them very body con or loose you should size up or down from your "normal" size. No obvious shortcomings (such as poor sewing, bad seams, etc.) Overall they are a great addition to your basics.
Wonderful thick fabric and love the length!
